Roof repairs in Guildford, traced to the real cause
After a storm in January 2026 a GU2 customer rang about water coming through the kitchen ceiling. Shane was there within an hour, could see the roof was rotting and needed reinforcing, and made a free temporary repair before he had even been hired. The proper job was finished two days later.
In GU1 a bedroom ceiling had been leaking from a failed ridge. Shane fitted a dry ridge system, screwed down with no mortar to crack, and checked the rest of the roof while he was up there. In Worplesdon, GU3, he carried out an emergency roof repair over a weekend and explained the issues thoroughly before the work started.
That is the routine on every Guildford repair: the loft and the roof both checked, photos of the fault, the fix and the price agreed before anything is touched, and the debris cleared the same day.
- 24 hour call-out for leaks
- Free temporary repair to stop the water
- Dry ridge and dry verge systems
- Fixed written price before work starts
Flat roofing in Guildford: torch-on, GRP and rubber
Guildford extensions, garages and dormers get the same flat roof build as every McDermott job: the old covering stripped, soft boards replaced with new 18mm OSB, the falls corrected so water runs off, then 3-layer torch-on felt, Cure It GRP fibreglass or EPDM rubber.
Shane's 3-layer torch-on flat roofs carry a 15-year guarantee, as stated in his posts. The nearest finished examples are the Pirbright GRP parapet roof and the Bagshot torch-on roof, both a short drive from Guildford.

1st class service
Following a storm last week, I noticed a leak coming in to the kitchen ceiling via the first floor roof. Shane contacted me and came round within an hour of the call, it was clear the roof was rooting and needed reinforcing immediately, before I even agreed to using Shane and McDermott homes, he did a temporary fix there and then, just to help me out at no charge. He was extremely professional and explained everything throughly, he was completely transparent during his visit. He followed up with a really reasonable quote, 2 days later the job was done. Great job, highly recommend.
Highly recommend
Very pleased to have found and used this team of experts! Installed a new dry ridge tile system for me which has ridden my irritation of a leak effecting the ceiling in my bedroom. Also checked for any other noticeable issues which I was assured there isn’t a big thank you to Shane and he’s team again.
Roof underfelt install and tile replacement
Shane and the team were transparent from start to finish, providing professional recommendations based on experience and as much information up-front as they could. They kept a tidy job site throughout, very respectful of my property and even lent a hand with some DIY that I'd gotten stuck with. All their work was finished to a great standard and they've kept in contact to make sure no issues arose after completion. An easy recommendation for roof work or any other external work/renovations.
